Grade 5 students have started off the year in Health and Physical Education classes with fitness and cooperative games. Students have been introduced to a variety of fitness activities in the form of circuits focusing on lower body, upper body and core strength, as well as cardiovascular fitness. They have demonstrated a strong work ethic and support network in accomplishing these fitness challenges. Grade 5 students learned how to play “The Wall”, a fast-paced, high-intensity game that involves speed, agility and team work. They also participated in various tarp challenges, where they learned how to communicate effectively, and the different roles involved in cooperating successfully. Grade 5 students have moved on to their soccer unit, with the initial focus being on solidifying their fundamental skills such as dribbling, kicking, passing, trapping and ball control. During game play, students are encouraged to work together, persevere, and communicate with their teammates for a fun and successful experience. We are proud of all of the Grade 5 students who participated during our annual Terry Fox Run!
