Problem solving test has been moved to FRIDAY DECEMBER 9th. The format has also changed. Students will be given 4 word problems to work through and do not need to memorize the answers to the 5 questions given yesterday.
This week we started our unit on math word problems. Please see the attachment for a study sheet for students when they are approaching math problems. Next week Wednesday December 7th I will be asking the students the exact 5 questions that are on this sheet and asking them to tell me the answers. They will also be given 2 word problems to do.
Homework this week will also be on word problems. Reminder homework is almost always given on Thursdays and due Tuesdays. Tests are usually on Wednesdays if and when given.
Just a reminder that the optional Caribou contest is running on Thursday (grades 5, 6, 7) this week at lunch. It will be in room 301. The interactive game is Sliding Blocks.
Also check out this link that you might find this interesting! A very visual and hands on way to show kids about fractions using lego.
On Wednesday November 23rd we will be having a math test on multiplication and long division. Students will be bringing home a review package today and I encourage students to work on a few questions for daily review. Here are a few great websites as well for review. I have gone over the package and website with the students so they are familiar with how to use them.
Please see this great link for tips on study skills and test taking. We have gone over some these tips/links in class however it would be beneficial to review with your child at home.
