Dear 4B Parents, We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the grade 4 student blogs! For the first time, we are piloting blogs created entirely by students! Making full use of the laptops in the portables and showcasing 21st century learning, students will now be posting work, updates, homework assignments and projects on their very own personalized "blogspot". This is an excellent way to keep current with class work and school happenings. This will also provide a space for students to show their learning from all subjects and specialties. Keeping our students safe online is of utmost importance. We have had meaningful classroom discussions about what is acceptable and appropriate to share online. While the blogs are public, they are "unfindable" on google and can only be viewed by those who have the web addresses. You child will have brought home a consent form on Friday outlining the rules of blogging. Signing the permission slip indicates that you have visited your child's blog and know your child's login information (students must all share this info with you before blogging from school). This may also be a good time to discuss photos and whether or not you are comfortable with them posting pictures of themselves. Additionally, we will be having a visit from online safety group, "SOLOS" (Safe Online Educational Society), on Tuesday, October 27th to teach our students more about online safety. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] Please watch the youtube videos linked here and here to learn more about blogging. Sincerely, Mrs.Claudio
